Nancy Beaudette's new CD "Honestly" is a natural evolution in her creative journey and marks a notable shift in her songwriting. "I want to write music without having to edit personal feelings about my experiences. I'm trying not to worry about what other people think, and just dig down deep to expose the raw emotion of the song. It can be intense, but it's real." Her writing is reminiscent of singer songwriters of the sixties and seventies, yet has the emotional edge of a woman with some heartfelt life experience.
Signature melodies and expressive vocals have made music icons take notice. The ballad "Yesterday" caught the attention of Grammy Award winner & Country Music Super Star Kathy Mattea who subsequently offered to demo the vocals on this recording. Nancy has also been co-writing with Nashville songwriters, most notably Grammy winner Jon Vezner. Their collaboration on "It Took Losing You to Find Me", recorded in Nashville, features Jon on piano along with a very poignant string arrangement, and an intimate vocal performance by Nancy. This CD is still a work in progress with more cuts on the way. If these first eight songs are any indication, there is much to be excited about as we wait for more of Nancy in the coming months.
Artistically, Nancy Beaudette is perhaps comparable to Canadian songwriters Jann Arden and Sara McLaughlin, or U.S. artists Patti Griffin and Shawn Colvin. Her previous five full length recordings as a Christian Artist drew accolades from the industry and can still be heard on Canadian radio from coast to coast. Nancy continues to perform throughout Canada and the U.S. at coffee houses, festivals, and special events.
